Elytra

The Elytra is craftable directly on a standard crafting table:

This is a high-end recipe — a Nether Star normally only drops from the Wither, and Phantom Membranes drop from Phantoms, so expect to explore beyond the starting island (Mining dimension, Nether/End if you build your own portals) to gather the ingredients.

Shulker Shell

Shulker Shells (used to craft Shulker Boxes) are normally only obtainable by killing Shulkers in an End City — this recipe makes them renewable from Popped Chorus Fruit instead:

Yields 1 Shulker Shell for 5 Popped Chorus Fruit.

Rabbit hide from rotten flesh

Killed by a zombie in the Mining dimension and stuck with a pile of rotten flesh? Smelt it in a furnace — it now produces rabbit hide instead of the usual XP-only cook:

Craft 4 rabbit hides into leather (vanilla recipe) — a bootstrap source of leather (used for the leather-dyed Minion armor and other recipes) since the void-world island has no cows or rabbits.

Wild bee hives (honey)

Growing a tree from a sapling with bone meal has a small chance (≈8%) of spawning a wild bee hive right next to you, complete with bees and a couple of flowers for them to pollinate. Growth from natural random ticks doesn't trigger this — you need to actively bonemeal.

Once the hive fills up, harvest it with a glass bottle for Honey Bottles (or shears for honeycomb — bring a campfire underneath if you don't want to anger the bees). This is currently the only source of honey on the island.
